
Before joining the firm, Trey served as Managing Partner of the Greenville office of Clawson & Staubes, where he developed a strong reputation as a prepared and professional courtroom advocate. He has tried nearly 40 cases to verdict across South Carolina, handling matters involving automobile and commercial trucking accidents, premises liability, product defects, construction defects, and police and jail misconduct. He has also argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and is a certified mediator.
Trey was recently inducted into the South Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only organization of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to preserving the right to trial by jury and promoting civility and professionalism in the courtroom. He has been recognized as Legal Elite from 2018 through 2025 and was first named to Best Lawyers in 2021. In 2024, he was honored as “Lawyer of the Year” in Insurance Litigation for the Upstate region.
A native of Upstate South Carolina and graduate of Byrnes High School, Trey earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Limestone University, graduating cum laude and receiving the university’s Annual Excellence in Business and Economics Award. While at Limestone, he played four years of varsity baseball and was later elected to the Limestone University Board of Trustees in 2022. He earned his law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law and is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
In his spare time, Trey enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter as well as spending time on the lake with his family and his golden doodle.
